An manchen Tagen möchte man dem grauen Alltag für einige Zeit entfliehen und sich an einen Ort begeben, an dem es bunt und inspirierend ist. Für solche Tage empfehle ich den wunderbaren “Perlentaucher” in der Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 51 in Leipzig. Sobald man den Laden betritt, ist man umgeben von Perlen in allen Farben des Regenbogens, von Anhängern, Bändern und allem, was man so zum Schmuckbasteln braucht. Die Wände zieren fertige Schmuckstücke – zum Erwerb oder einfach als Inspiration für eigene Kreationen. Wer noch nie selbst Schmuck gebastelt hat, kann dies außerdem direkt im Laden tun und wird nett beraten, wenn er nicht weiter weiß. Eins kann ich sagen: mit leeren Händen verlässt man den “Perlentaucher” nie. Und wer Lust auf einen ausgedehnteren Einkaufsbummel hat, wird in der Umgebung auch fündig – das Feinkostgelände (direkt gegenüber) und viele andere schöne Läden in der Karli sind zu Fuß schnell erreichbar.

On some days, you just want to escape your boring everday routine for a while and visit a place that is colorful and inspiring. For such days, I recommend the wonderful “Perlentaucher”-shop in Leipzig’s Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 51. The moment you enter the shop, you are surrounded by beads in all colors of the rainbow, pendants, ribbons and everything you need to make your own jewellery. The walls are adorned with finished pieces of jewellery – for sale or just as an inspiration for your own creations. The people who have never made jewellery before can do it directly in the shop and get help from the kind ladies. One thing is for sure: you’ll never leave “Perlentaucher” with empty hands. And if you’re in the mood for an extensive shopping spree, the neighbourhood is perfect – take a look at the Feinkost (across the street) or some of the other pretty shops in Karl-Liebknecht-Straße that are all accessible on foot.

Ein Laden, in den ich immer wieder gerne gehe, wenn ich ein Geschenk brauche, ist Flocki Farell in der Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 93. Vom Schlüsselmonster bis zum WG-Kochbuch mit dem treffenden Titel “Kocht wieder kein Schwein?” (inkl. Plastikspiegeleimagnet) gibt es in dem kleinen Shop alles, was das Herz von Schenkenden und Beschenkten begehrt. Toll: im Raum dahinter stehen Nähmaschinen, die für kleines Geld gemietet werden können (mehr Infos hier). Egal also, ob man selbst tätig werden oder mit etwas Gekauftem Freude bereiten will – im Laden mit dem pinken Hasen ist man immer richtig.

A shop here in Leipzig I really like is “Flocki Farell” located in Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 93. In there, you can find all kinds of cute and funny gifts for anyone you know!

I’m absolutely in the mood for christmas – I can’t wait to make and buy gifts and decorate my room. One reason for this early excitement is that I got tons of new decoration-ideas at the small pre-christmas-exhibiton at Blumenland Engler we visited last Sunday. Beside the lightning, I loved the usage of natural materials – it inspired me to take a walk through the woods, collect things like moss, cones and other pretty things and make something out of them. However, there were also funny things like an advent wreath with bras on it called “Brüstung” (breastwork).
