Rainy days.

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

We’ve had lots of rainy days lately on which the question “What should I wear?” is always difficult to answer – and there are even more to come since autumn is just around the corner. In this weather, you want to stay dry and warm, but still look great and interesting. While playing around with Polyvore, I found lots of cute’n'colorful umbrellas, rain jackets/coats and wellies and came to the conclusion that these are the best helpers when trying to create a good outfit on a bad (weather) day (see pictures as proof). I already own a (red!) rainjacket, a pair of wellies and another pair of boots that is rain-resistant, but I think a beautiful umbrella, maybe like the one in the second picture, would be a good investment. I would like to find a pair of waterproof shoes that are more like bootees or ankle-boots, too, so I could also wear them in summer when it’s too warm for normal high boots.

Favourite of July.

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

Under the categorie “Outfit of the month on Tragfläche” I’m going to show you my favourite picture of the ones we took for our Leipzig street fashion website Tragfläche from now on. This post is a bit late, I will usually do them at the beginning of the following month.

My favourite outfit of July is this one, worn and created by Divina, 23:

She was a really cute, kind girl and I just loved her handmade (?) skirt with all those animals on it. The colors of her jacket, bag and flats are great as well. By the way, in the background of the picture you can see the “Brühlarkaden”, a building that was painted by the artist Fischer-Art from Leipzig.

60s.

Sunday, August 19th, 2007

necklace – gift from frau liebe
crazy shirt – handmade
old bangle
bag – vintage, gift from my mom
“capris” (rolled up jeans) – h&m
flats – lands’ end

The 60s are quite a big inspiration for me at the moment. I’m currently reading a book about André Courrèges and love everything from cute a-line mini-dresses (I want to make some) to huge accessories such as necklaces or hats. Last year, I was so lucky to be in London when there was this exhibition at the Victoria&Albert-museum (you can still see the exhibits here). This year, 60s-inspired styles could and can be found on many catwalks and streets all over the world. Everyone seems to be looking at 60s-icons like Twiggy Lawson, Edie Sedgwick and Peggy Moffitt for inspiration.

Here are some of my favourites from the exhibits of the V&A. I especially love the colours and details.

And if you look at these garments from the new collection of Anthropologie, you can see a modern interpretation of the 60s styles and that they are still a big thing this fall. I’m looking forward to wearing little dresses and coats with black opaque tights and boots.
