A shirt for him.

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Here is something I finished some time ago, but didn’t post yet: a shirt for my boyfriend. I made it using this pattern from burdastyle (I only shortened the sleeves) and I’m really satisfied with the result. The pattern is great and very easy and the shirt fits him perfectly! I also love the fabric – I cut the big parts on the straight grain and the details on the bias. The big red buttons were chosen by him, the small label in the back (”made with ♥”) was my idea. I still have a lot of that fabric which I plan on making into a dress for myself. I will use a pattern from the 70s.

Something completely different: I spotted these wonderful shoes on eBay and - for some reason – was reminded of the movie Death on the Nile I watched a long time ago. Now I’m feeling completely inspired by the pictures I have in my memory: light-weight and light-coloured clothes, lots of linen and cotton, leather shoes and leather bags, baskets and summer hats made from straw and other nice materials. Love! I think I will create some Death on the Nile-inspired sets on Polyvore now…

Batik.

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008

red earrings, brooch - gift
top (altered by me) – 1€ on eBay
blue cardi – esprit
bag – handmade
flats – rieker

I made this bag today and I am very satisfied with how it came out. In these pictures, it’s still a bit “baggy” (pun not intended), but afterwards I added some fabric-covered cardboard as a bottom.

As you can see, I’m also wearing a batik-top that I got on eBay and sewed smaller. I think my inspiration for buying it were the following photos from Finnish trendi-magazine. I liked them very much and wanted something similiar that would go well with my style – I think the yellow and red-orange version absolutely does!

And – finally – a photo of me doing my favourite thing in the world: sewing.
