Gemocht habe ich die Olsenbande schon, als ich noch klein war und mein Bruder und ich die Filme immer mit meinen Großeltern ansahen. Jetzt habe ich sie wiederentdeckt: die Stories sind klasse, aber auch die Wohnungen und Autos finde ich großartig. Und das Beste ist natürlich die Mode, von der man sich auch heute noch – 40 Jahre nach dem ersten Film –  super inspirieren lassen kann.

I already liked the Olsen Gang when I was small and watched the movies with my brother and grandparents. Now I rediscovered them: the stories are great, but I also like the flats and cars. However, the best thing are the outfits that are still as inspiring today as they were more than 40 years ago.

Egon
Damals: Egon trägt in den Filmen stets einen klassischen Nadelstreifenanzug und eine Melone.
Heute: Eine Kombi aus Bluse, Weste und 3/4-Hose im Nadelstreifen-Mix steht im Mittelpunkt. Eine Melone oder Schnürschuhe vervollständigen das Outfit – und Puffärmel, Perlenketten oder eine Ansteckblume machen den Look femininer.

Egon
Back then: In the movies, Egon is always wearing a classic pinstripe-suit and a bowler hat.
Today: A combination of a blouse, a waistcoat and some 3/4-pants with different pinstripes is reminiscent of Egon’s look. A bowler hat or some lace-up shoes complete the outfit – and puffy sleeves, pearl necklaces or a flower brooch make the look more feminine.

Benny
Damals: Benny ist bekleidungstechnisch der verrückteste der 3. Charakteristisch für ihn sind “zu kurze” Hosen und leuchtend gelbe Socken. Er trägt Karomuster und einen Schlapphut.
Heute: Ein Karomuster dient als Blickfang. Super dazu ist eine 7/8-Hose oder eine hochgekrempelte gerade geschnittene Jeans. Witzig wird es, wenn man die für Benny typischen Details wieder aufgreift: einen (leuchtenden) Schlapphut, farbige Socken und (Stoff-)Turnschuhe.

Benny
Back then: When it comes to fashion, Benny is the craziest one of the 3 men. His characteristic look consists of cropped trousers and bright yellow socks. In addition, he wears checks and a floppy hat.
Today: A checked pattern catches the eye. Some 7/8-trousers or straight-cut jeans with rolled-up legs are great for the “Benny-style”. A (brightly-colored) floppy hat, colorful socks and (canvas) sneakers make the outfit more special.

Kjeld
Damals: Kjeld sieht man nie ohne Fliege, Schiebermütze und Cordjackett. In seiner großen Hebammentasche werden alle Utensilien für den nächsten Coup transportiert.
Heute: Eine alte Jacke oder ein Blazer aus Cord erinnert an Kjelds Stil. Feminine Röcke und Kleider mit Karo- oder Hahnentrittmuster sehen am schönsten dazu aus. Eine Fliege (angesteckt oder wie eine Kette getragen) und eine Hebammentasche machen die Homage perfekt.

Kjeld
Back then: Kjeld can never be seen without a bow-tie, a flat cap and the typical corduroy jacket. In his big doctor’s bag, he carries all the utensils for the next big coup.
Today: An old jacket or blazer made from corduroy reminds of Kjeld’s look. Feminine skirts and dresses, checked or with a houndstooth-pattern, look best with that. A bow-tie (pinned on or worn like a necklace) and a doctor’s bag perfect the homage.

Yvonne ist die Frau von Kjeld und die einzige weibliche Hauptperson in den Olsenbande-Filmen.
Damals: Knallbunte Kleider, passende Hüte und andere auffällige Accessoires stehen für Yvonne. Viele ihrer Sachen tragen plakative 70er-Jahre-Muster.
Heute: Schön ist es, wenn ein großes Muster mit vielen Farben im Mittelpunkt steht und man diese Töne dann wieder aufgreift – zum Beispiel in einem einfarbigen Rock oder einer Ansteckblüte. Verrückt à la Yvonne wird das Outfit mit einem weiteren Print (z.B. auf der Tasche) und einem riesigen Hut.

Yvonne is Kjeld’s wife and the only female leading character of the Olsen Gang-movies.
Back then: Brightly colored dresses, matching hats and other catchy accessories stand for Yvonne. Many of her clothes show striking 70s-patterns.
Today: It’s great when there’s one big pattern with many colors in the centre and those tones are picked up again – for instance in an unicolored skirt or a flower brooch. Add another print (e.g. on the bag) and a huge hat – and you have a crazy outfit à la Yvonne.

Es ist immer noch ziemlich kalt, aber zumindest schien heute die Sonne wieder. Den einfachen Rock habe ich vorhin in kürzester Zeit gemacht. Er besteht aus 4 rechteckigen Stoffbahnen, oben ist ein Gummizug – ich denke, ich werde die Anleitung bald mal hier veröffentlichen. Ich habe meinen Rock dann gleich getragen, um wählen zu gehen und das Leipziger Stadtfest zu besuchen. Im Wahllokal freuten sich die Leute, weil mein Outfit perfekt zum gelben Wahlzettel passte.

It’s still quite cold, but at least the sun was shining again today. This morning, I sewed this simple skirt in a short time. It’s made from 4 rectangular panels of fabrics and has a elasticised waist – I think I’ll post the “How To” here soon. After making it, I wore the skirt right away to go voting and visit the Leipzig city festival. At the polling station, the people told me they found it funny that my outfit was matching the yellow ballot paper.

Zur Zeit ist das Wetter wirklich eklig: statt sonnigem Sommerwetter gibt es Regen und kühle Temperaturen. Am liebsten würde man sich die ganze Zeit drinnen verkriechen - doch irgendwann ist wieder Montag und die Arbeit ruft. Zum Glück reichen schon ein paar Teile, um auch an Regentagen schön und praktisch angezogen zu sein.

Lately, the weather has been terrible: instead of sunny summer weather, we have had rain and low temperatures. Actually, I would love to hide indoors all the time – but when it’s Monday again, duty calls. Luckily, one only needs some pieces to survive rainy days and still look beautiful.

- eine schöne Regenjacke oder ein Regenmantel: Damit man nicht nass wird und friert, sollte man auf jeden Fall eine regenfeste Jacke oder einen Mantel im Schrank haben. Wenn man Regenschirme nicht mag (oder es stürmt), ist eine Kapuze nicht schlecht. Am universellsten sind etwas taillierte Jacken - die sehen auch zu Röcken und Kleidern super aus.

- ein paar wasserfeste Schuhe: Bunte Gummistiefel bringen Farbe in graue, verregnete Tage. Aber auch klassische Schnürschuhe, Ankleboots oder Stiefel (beispielsweise aus Glattleder) schützen vor nassen Füßen.

- ein hübscher Regenschirm: Egal, ob praktischer Knirps oder witziger Pagodenschirm: bei plötzlichen Regengüssen ist es toll, wenn man einen Schirm dabei hat.

Diese 3 Teile reichen, um so gut wie jedes Outfit regenfest zu machen. Und mit bunten Broschen, Tüchern oder Taschen lassen sich graue Tage noch besser überstehen.

- a nice rain jacket or coat: A rain-resistant jacket or coat is important, so you don’t freeze or get wet. If you don’t like umbrellas (or when it’s stormy), a hoos is helpful. I think that waisted jackets are the most universal, because those also look great with dresses and skirts.

- a pair of water-resistant shoes: Bright wellies bring colors make grey, rainy days more bearable. But of course classic lace-up shoes, ankle boots or boots (for instance made from smooth leather) protect your feet from getting wet.

- a beautiful umbrella: Practical telescopic umbrella or witty pagoda umbrella: when there are sudden heavy showers, it’s great to have an umbrella with you.

With these 3 pieces, you can make about any outfit rainproof. And colorful broochs, scarfs and bags make grey days even more beautiful.
